Modern dash camera opened beside its battery and test equipment

Nextbase 622GW Battery Replacement – Common Symptoms and Repair Options

The Nextbase 622GW is a capable dash cam, but its internal rechargeable battery is still a consumable component. When capacity deteriorates, the camera may stop shutting down correctly, lose settings or behave erratically when vehicle power changes.

Typical 622GW battery symptoms

  • Immediate shutdown when unplugged
  • Failure to complete a normal shutdown
  • Repeated restarting when the ignition is switched
  • Lost date, time or settings
  • Case distortion caused by a swollen battery

Checks worth doing first

Use a known-good power adaptor and cable, remove the microSD card temporarily, reset the camera and allow it to charge. If it works correctly with another supply, the vehicle adaptor or hardwire kit may be responsible rather than the internal cell.

What battery replacement involves

The 622GW must be dismantled without damaging the touchscreen, ribbon cables or enclosure. The old battery is removed, a suitable new cell installed, and the unit reassembled and checked through charging, startup, recording and shutdown.

What a replacement cannot fix

A new battery will not repair an unrelated LCD, USB, camera-sensor or main-board fault. If additional problems become apparent during inspection, they should be discussed before further chargeable work is undertaken.
